Owned by a young family in Mt Airy, this traditional home had a dated layout. The original pink tile kitchen was far from the rest of the rooms and too small for entertaining. Our clients wanted to move the kitchen into an existing sitting room and open up a wall to the dining room. For a family that loves gardening, kids, dogs, and beer brewing, the kitchen needed to work hard and feel roomy.
Our interior designers created a colorful space outfitted with organizers and hidden storage. We repeated an arch detail to open the wall between rooms while preserving original moldings. Concrete tile and quartz counters are durable and beautiful. Matte black hardware and wood floors are easy to clean.
The previous kitchen was converted into a multi functional work room. We preserved the pink tile, added a reclaimed wood wall, and carved out areas for laundry, brewing, and coat storage. The final product is fun and modern, it celebrates the history of the home and creates new life within it.
