Main Line Vintage Bathroom

Case Study: Aging In Place

After collaborating on her kitchen renovation, our client returned to transform her Ardmore bathroom with a focus on long-term comfort and Universal Design. While she was deeply inspired by the home’s historic tile, she recognized that a "gut" renovation was necessary to replace an outdated, cramped layout with one that prioritized aging-in-place functionality and better storage.

The original bathroom squeezed a tub, pedestal sink, and a dark, narrow shower stall into a space that lacked any meaningful storage. By removing the tub, we opened the floor plan to accommodate a spacious shower with a built-in bench, providing both safety and ease of use. This strategic layout change also allowed for a large vanity and a separate hutch, drastically increasing accessible storage. To maintain the home’s character, we paired vintage-inspired fixtures and colorful wallpaper with patterned floor tile, creating a historical aesthetic that remains bright, clean, and fully functional for years to come
