we design spaces that make people happy
Case Study: Changing a kitchen’s location
These visionary homeowners dreamed of a moody red kitchen filled with family heirlooms, antiques, and furniture-like details. Their existing kitchen was tiny, dated, and hidden behind a rarely used formal dining room. They wanted to remove the wall and combine the rooms, but felt unsure how to create a layout that related to their front living room. We suggested swapping the spaces completely, moving the kitchen into the center of the house to create a social cooking area and creating a cozy dining nook in the back corner.
The new kitchen design is open to the main living room, allowing the homeowners to chat with guests or enjoy views out their front window from the central island. We integrated an antique pie safe cabinet with a vintage-style induction range and a hidden appliance garage. our interior design team sourced all furnishings, fixtures, and updated doors and windows. Our project management team oversaw construction and worked with local artisans to refinish antique furniture and install upholstery. Now, this historic home feels open, colorful, and completely personalized. Everyone (including the dog) loves to hang out in their new favorite space, the dining banquette.
